Itinerary:
You will depart from Delhi at 7:30 pm.
- You will reach Mcleodganj in the morning, check-in at the hotel.
- After breakfast, you can head out for some local sightseeing in Mcleodganj.
- You will visit the Namgyal Monastery, Bhagsu Waterfall and Bhagsunath temple.
- In the evening you will explore the local market here and do some shopping.
- You can also check out the cafes, some of which serve great Tibetan cuisine.
- You will come back to your hotel, have your dinner overnight stay at the campsite.
- You will start your day early with some sumptuous breakfast and then start your Triund trek.
- The Triund trek starts from Mcleodganj and takes around 3-4 hours one way generally.
- The trekking trail passes through alpine meadows, lush green forests, and waterfalls.
- You will mostly reach Triund late in the afternoon.
- On the way, you will take a break for an hour at the Magic view cafe for half an hour.
- You will witness the spectacular sunset from the Triund peak against the backdrop of the Himalayan mountains.
- You will camp here for the night under the sky studded with stars.
- You will wake up to a beautiful sunrise against the backdrop of the Dhauladhar range.
- You will then have your breakfast here only on top of the hill amidst stunning surroundings.
- You will start descending back to Mcleodganj at about 3 pm.
- You will then board your bus for Delhi in the evening.

Description
Triund offers you an escape into the majestic Himalayas. Situated a few kilometres from Dharamshala, it is a place perfect for trekking with amazing trails offering scenic views of the entire Kangra valley. A trek to Triund is short and simple. It can be done from either McLeodganj or Dharamkot, which is 2km ahead of McLeodganj. The first half of the trek is a_gradually inclined walk with the last 2km from Snowline Caf which involves a vertical climb all the way till Triund. The evening sky from Triund is a sight in itself and is a good excuse for camping here at night.
The trek from Mcleodganj to Triund is a sharp one of over 1100 meters and it is absolutely worth it because of the refreshing walks amongst the Rhododendron and Oak forest. Town of Mcleodganj invites you to experience the vibrant Tibetan culture which is enjoyed by tourists from all over the world.
Many people refer to Triund as the heart or crown of Dharamshala and Mcleod Ganj. The trek to Triund is around 9-10 KMs from Mcleod Ganj, Himachal Pradesh. Triund offers some magnificent views of Dhaulandhar ranges on one side and Kangra Valley on the other side.
It’s a beautiful trek surrounded by forests and can be done by people of all age groups. Perhaps, that’s the reason why it’s so popular in the Himachal Pradesh beginners trek.
Altitude
Triund is located at the foot of the Dhaulandhar ranges in the Himalayas at an altitude of around 2828 meters or 9350 feet approximately.
Best time to visit Triund
The trip to Triund trek can be made at any time of the year except January and February because of the heavy snowfall. However, the best time to visit Triund is from March to the mid or end of June before the monsoon arrives in North India.
After that, one can also undertake the trek to Triund in September and October. This trek is closed for sometime in January and February in case of bad weather conditions or heavy snowfall.

The best time to visit the Triund trek is from March to May, during which the travellers might experience a pleasant atmosphere that adds to the beauty of the trek.
This is a relatively easy trek and can be attempted by first timers. However do maintain a proper level of fitness before going for this trek.
Even though this is an easy trek, the trekkers are advised to follow a proper fitness regime that involves cardiovascular exercises, long walks with intermittent jogging to maintain your heart rate and control your breathing. Ensure that you begin this routine at least a month before the actual trek to prepare your body for the trek.
Although this is a shorter trek, please ensure that your backpack has enough space or capacity to fit your clothes, accessories and any gears that you wish to carry. Also always go for bags that have a wider strap so that it rests comfortably on your shoulders.
We would suggest you to carry trekking boots that support your feet and ankles and are slip resistant. They also protect you from the cold and are advisable for these kinds of treks. Also make sure that the shoes fit properly to avoid tripping.
